Coffee Notes
Coffee beans are the seeds of the coffee
fruit/cherry .
Our Jamaica coffee beans are the aribica
type beans. The other type of bean, Robusta has twice as much caffeine but
produces less flavorful brews.
Roasting time has an effect on flavor. The
longer the roast the more oil comes to the surface and this results in less acid and less
caffeine in the bean.
The French roast, produces a darker and
oiler bean. This is a bean that is subject to a longer roasting period than the Light and
City roast that are at the shorther roasting end of the roasting scale. The Espresso
roast, beans roasted longer than the Frence roast, is at the far end of the rossting
scale.
The longer the coffee bean roasting process
the less caffeine remains in the bean. Therefore Light roast has more caffeine and
Espresso roast has the least amount of caffeine.
